OPTIVIZOR - Sizing

Head Measurement Instructions

Not sure, which type of snout your dog belongs to ? See our chart

Step 1: Determine the Headsize

A. For normal snouted and long snouted dogs

Run an imaginary line across from behind one ear all way up and across the dog’s head and across to the other ear. You will find the mid point located at the center of this line. This Midpoint is used to establish the HEAD MEASUREMENT.

Measure from the midpoint to the tip of the dog’s nose. DO NOT follow the contours of the dog’s face ! Measure in a straight line only ! The resulting measurement represents the head measurement you will use to size your OPTIVIZOR using the table provided below.

B. For short snouted dogs

Please note: To determine the correct size for dogs with short snouts is difficult, as the races in question often have no nose standing out and additionally vary extremely in regard to weight (size of neck!).

For this reason, it is the head’s circumference that indicates best what size is needed.

Please measure the dog’s head from mid-ears down and around behind the jaws and back to the ears.

Attention: Measure relatively tight, also over the ears (which will stand out of the mask later!). Use below table for short snouted dogs to determine the size of mask your dog will need.

Step 2: Final Sizing

I. Determine WEIGHT of dog

Using the tables provided size the OPTIVIZOR by head measurement and by canine weight. You may find that you have two different sizes according to the two charts. This is because, as we know, dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Simply pick the smaller size. It is always better to size down when in doubt

Please note: Short snouted dogs often have identical cirumferences of head and neck. Due to this, they easily can slip off the mask. Therefore, ensure a tight fit of the velcro fastener without suffocating the dog.

If desired, you can attach the mask with additional 2-sided velcro at the dog’s own collar. To do this, look into the inside of the mask; you will see two additional slots for the velcro in the colored area of the neck piece. Put the velcro through these slots and attach it to the dog’s collar.

SIZE MATTERS !

A good fit is critical for the Novaguard to function correctly and to give your dog the best chance of accepting it.

A SNUG FIT !

When fitting your new Novaguard make sure the neck collar is done up firmly - otherwise thedog is less likely to accept the collar quickly. Depending on the temperament of your dog you may loosen this slightly once the Novaguard has been accepted.
